How these numbers are counted.
How many Lok Sabha constituencies are there?
The Lok Sabha has 543 elected seats. In 2024, 542 went to the polls; in Surat (Gujarat) the BJP candidate was elected unopposed after the other nominations were rejected or withdrawn, so Surat has no vote count.
Which party won the most seats in 2024?
Bharatiya Janata Party won 240 seats (including Surat), short of the 272 needed for a majority on its own. Indian National Congress won 99. Counts here are by party, not by alliance.
What was the national turnout in 2024?
64,64,20,872 of 97,79,65,560 registered electors voted in the 542 polled constituencies, a turnout of about 66.1%.
What is an assembly segment?
Each Lok Sabha seat is made of several assembly constituencies, called its segments (usually six to eight). ECI publishes the votes counted in each segment, which shows where a winner built or lost the lead. Every constituency page here charts that.
