FAQ

What the Census does and does not publish.

Is there official caste-wise (OBC / General) population data?

No. Census 2011 records only Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe status. The Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2011 caste data has not been released, and no official OBC or General count exists for districts or constituencies.

Can I get religion data for my assembly constituency?

Not officially. The Census publishes religion by state, district, tehsil and town — not by assembly or Lok Sabha seat. The figures on our seat pages are for the district the seat lies in, and are labelled that way.

Why are these 2011 figures?

Census 2011 is the latest completed census. The next Census has a reference date of 1 March 2027 (1 October 2026 in snow-bound areas); no results from it have been published yet.
