Guests at the front desk, visitors at the ghat, travellers at the bus stand

Bharat Survey is a market research company for hospitality and tourism organisations: hotel groups, resorts, homestay networks, travel companies and tourism boards. We run mystery stays and restaurant audits, guest satisfaction programmes, and intercept surveys with visitors at monuments, pilgrimage towns and hill stations, using an offline app that works where mountain and forest networks fail.

Where travellers are

Domestic travel in India is spread across pilgrimage circuits, hill stations, beaches, heritage cities and weekend getaways from metros. Each draws a different traveller, and each has its own season.

We plan intercept points and shifts around arrival patterns, such as early-morning darshan queues, weekend drives or monsoon lulls, so the sample reflects who actually visits rather than who happened to be free at noon.

  • Offline forms for low-network destinations

Awareness and consideration among travellers in your feeder cities, tracked before and after each season so marketing spend can be judged against a stable base.
Field

Field survey services for Hospitality and Tourism destinations

Visitor profile and spend surveys at sites, with trip purpose, length of stay, accommodation type and satisfaction with local services such as transport and toilets.
Trade

Travel agent and tour operator interviews

What agents recommend, which properties they avoid and why, and how commissions and complaints shape the packages they sell.

Our view on guest research

Guest experience

Most hotels already hand a feedback card at checkout, when the guest is in a hurry and the front desk is watching. We run short surveys a day after departure by phone or link, and in-stay pulse questions for long stays, so staff do not influence answers and problems can be fixed while a guest is still on property.

Classification standards as a reference

The Ministry of Tourism classifies hotels from one star to five star deluxe through its Hotel and Restaurant Approval and Classification Committee. Many groups use those published criteria as a baseline for internal audits. Our audit checklists can mirror them, but a mystery audit is not a classification inspection and carries no official status.

FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

How does a mystery stay work?

An auditor books through your normal channels, stays like any guest and records observations against an agreed checklist, from reservation calls to checkout. Timestamps, location and consented photos of public areas back the report. Staff are not photographed, and the auditor's identity stays undisclosed to the property.

Can you survey visitors at pilgrimage and hill destinations?

Yes. Interviewers work at entry points, parking areas and rest stops with an offline Android app. We schedule shifts around arrival peaks and local permissions, and keep interviews short because visitors are often in queues or with family.

Should guest surveys run at checkout or after departure?

After departure usually gives more honest answers, because the guest is no longer in front of staff. A short in-stay pulse works for long stays or resorts where a problem can still be fixed. We often combine both.

Do you cover peak and lean seasons separately?

We recommend it. Guest mix, staffing and prices change between seasons, so one survey period can mislead. Waves are timed to your season calendar and compared on the same questions.
