Bharat Survey is a door to door survey agency for government departments, urban local bodies, NGOs and companies that need information from households in a defined area. We plan the route, list or sample houses, send trained enumerators with an offline app, and record the outcome of every visit, including locked houses and refusals, with GPS and time. You see progress by village or ward each day, and at the end you know exactly which doors were covered and which were not.

What it involves
Asking questions at a doorstep is the easy part. The hard part is proving that every house in a ward was visited, that locked houses were revisited, and that enumerators did not skip the far lanes, the upper floors or the settlement behind the railway line. Most household survey failures are coverage failures, and they only show up when someone complains that their street was never counted.
Full enumeration or sample
A full door-to-door enumeration visits every household, as in a municipal property survey, a beneficiary identification drive or a waste collection mapping exercise. A sample survey visits a random selection of households to estimate figures for the area at lower cost. We help you decide based on whether you need a list of households or an estimate.
Visit outcomes are data too
Every door gets an outcome: completed, locked, refused, respondent not available, vacant, non-residential. Locked houses are scheduled for revisits at different times of day. The final report shows coverage and non-response by area, so gaps are visible instead of hidden.

Who answers the door
Daytime visits often find only women, elders or children at home. Questionnaires specify eligible respondents, and appointments are made for others.
Language at the doorstep
Questionnaires run in Hindi-first interfaces with English and regional translations, and enumerators are recruited to match local language and dialect.
Trust and safety
Enumerators carry identity cards and a project letter, explain the survey before asking questions, and never ask for bank details, OTPs or Aadhaar numbers.
In the field
Supervisors review each day's flags and coverage before the next morning's assignments, so gaps are closed while teams are still in the area.

How many households can a door-to-door team cover in a day?
It depends on questionnaire length, how spread out houses are, and how many are locked. A two-minute listing visit and a forty-minute household interview are very different. We estimate daily output from the pilot and plan team size and timelines from those real numbers.
What happens with locked houses?
Locked houses are recorded with the visit time and revisited at a different time of day, often evening or weekend. After the agreed number of attempts they are reported as non-response, by area, so you can see where coverage fell short.
Can our own staff or volunteers do the survey?
Yes. Buy seats on the Bharat Survey app, assign areas and forms, and your team collects with the same offline mode, location verification and outcome codes. We can add supervision and back-checks if you want an independent check.
How do residents know the enumerator is genuine?
Enumerators carry an identity card and a letter describing the project, and explain the survey before asking questions. For government work, a local notice or ward-level announcement before fieldwork helps. Enumerators never ask for money, OTPs or bank details.
