A Bhojpuri-majority district on the Rapti, with a city that grew by 32 villages
Bharat Survey is a survey company in Gorakhpur for campaign teams, NGOs, brands and public programmes. Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam now has 80 wards after absorbing 32 villages, and the district's nine assembly segments vote in the Gorakhpur and Bansgaon seats. We plan samples on both maps, send Bhojpuri-speaking interviewers where needed, and log every record offline with GPS and time.

City segment plus four around it
Gorakhpur Urban is the city core; Gorakhpur Rural, Pipraich, Sahjanwa and Caimpiyarganj bring village and small-town households into the same seat. Quotas are set per segment so the city does not drown out the rest.
- Urban and rural weighted separately
Four Gorakhpur segments and a district line
Khajni, Chauri Chaura, Bansgaon and Chillupar vote in Bansgaon, which also reaches into Deoria district. A Bansgaon study sends a team across that boundary.
Bhojpuri as the working language
Just over half the district reported Bhojpuri as mother tongue in 2011. Questionnaires are written in Hindi and piloted aloud in Bhojpuri, so interviewers phrase questions the same way in every village.

Data collection agency in Gorakhpur: scope
- City wards, merged-village wards or district villages
- Households, shops or service users
- Hindi form with Bhojpuri piloting
- Photo proof for outlets and facilities
Timing
- Monsoon buffer days for low-lying areas near the Rapti
- Harvest weeks slow rural interviews
- Evening slots for working households
- Festival days avoided in market wards
Outputs
- Ward and segment tables
- Old-city versus merged-ward comparison
- Seat-wise reports
- Daily dashboard progress
Not the right fit if
- No Gorakhpur office or standing team; field teams are deployed per project
- No voter-list personal data, voter tracking or outcome promises
- No flood engineering or river surveys
A good fit if
- Seat, segment and ward-level research
- Household, NGO programme and retail surveys
- Offline booth coordination

Which segments are in the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat?
The district administration lists five: Caimpiyarganj, Pipraich, Gorakhpur Urban, Gorakhpur Rural and Sahjanwa. The district's other four segments, Khajni, Chauri Chaura, Bansgaon and Chillupar, vote in the Bansgaon seat. We tag each interview with its segment and report the seats separately.
How many wards does Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam have?
80. The delimitation before the 2023 civic polls raised the count from 70, brought 32 villages into the corporation and renamed more than 40 wards. We sample on the current list and treat the merged-village wards as their own group.
Why do you pilot questionnaires in Bhojpuri?
Census 2011 recorded Bhojpuri as the mother tongue of about 51% of Gorakhpur district, slightly more than Hindi. Reading a Hindi form aloud in natural Bhojpuri changes wording, so we agree the spoken phrasing in a pilot and brief every interviewer on it.
Does the monsoon affect Gorakhpur fieldwork?
It can slow access in low-lying areas and villages. We keep buffer days in monsoon schedules, move affected sample points later in the round, and replace a location only after telling you and recording why.

Share wards, segments or seat, the respondents you need and your dates. We will send a plan with the merged wards marked.
