Recharge counters, broadband installs and the villages where signal comes and goes

Bharat Survey is a market research company for telecommunications operators, broadband providers, handset brands and tower and fibre companies. We audit retailers and operator stores, interview subscribers about network experience where they actually use their phones, and follow up broadband installations at home. Our field app works offline, which matters when the study is about places with weak coverage.

  • Operator store and recharge retailer audits
  • Network experience interviews by location
  • Broadband and fibre installation feedback
  • Rural and feature-phone user studies

The telecom research problem

A subscriber who drops calls at home but not at work will give two different answers depending on where you ask. Location is part of the data.

Phone and online surveys reach people who already have decent connectivity. The customers most likely to port out or keep a second SIM are often the ones those modes miss: rural users, migrant workers, and households in dense urban pockets where indoor signal is poor. A GPS-tagged interview at the respondent's home or workplace lets your network team see perception and place together.

Regulatory context

TRAI's Standards of Quality of Service regulations of 2024 for access and broadband services set performance parameters and require operators to publish coverage maps and QoS results. Survey findings on perceived quality are not a regulatory measurement, but they help operators see where customer experience and published benchmarks disagree.

Retail audit

Mystery shopping for Telecommunications stores and retailers

Shoppers ask for a new connection, port-in, plan advice or a broadband connection. They record how plans were explained, whether the ID and consent process was followed, and whether they were pushed toward a plan they did not ask for.

  • Operator stores and multi-brand retailers
  • Plan explanation accuracy

Satisfaction

Broadband satisfaction is decided in the first week: installation appointment kept, cabling done neatly, speed as promised and a working router. Mobile satisfaction builds or erodes slowly through call quality, data speed and recharge value. We run separate instruments for each and time them to those moments.

  • Installation visit within a few days of activation
  • Service request interviews after a ticket closes
  • Recharge and plan value checks each quarter
  • Port-out interviews within weeks of leaving

Not the right fit if

  • Network drive tests or signal measurement equipment
  • Call-centre dialler or IVR platforms
  • SIM activation or KYC processing
  • Selling subscriber contact data

A good fit if

  • Retail and store mystery audits
  • Location-tagged perception surveys
  • Broadband installation follow-ups
  • Rural and low-connectivity user research
FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

Can your team survey areas with no mobile network?

Yes. The survey app works fully offline, stores the interview with its location and time, and syncs once the device finds coverage. That is especially useful for studies about poor connectivity, where online or phone modes would miss the very users you need.

Do you measure signal strength during interviews?

No. We record the respondent's perception, the location and the time. Technical measurement needs drive-test equipment and belongs to your network team or a specialist vendor. Our location-tagged data can guide where those tests happen.

Can mystery shoppers check the SIM issuance process?

Shoppers can observe and record what the retailer asked for and explained, within limits your compliance team sets. They do not submit false identity documents or activate connections under fake details.

How are telecom studies priced?

On quotation. Number of circles and towns, interviews or outlets, languages and turnaround drive cost. Share the geography and the question and we will return a sample plan with a line-item estimate.
