From the kirana shelf to the doorstep delivery

Bharat Survey is a market research company for e-commerce and retail businesses that sell across stores, apps and doorsteps. Online dashboards tell you what people clicked. We find out why they bought, returned or switched: store audits and shopper intercepts, doorstep interviews after delivery, and small-town research with buyers who still prefer cash on delivery.

  • Store audits and shelf checks
  • Post-delivery doorstep interviews
  • Shopper intercepts outside stores and malls
  • Tier-2 and tier-3 buyer studies

Two channels, one shopper

A shopper who orders groceries on an app on Monday still buys milk from the corner store on Tuesday. Research that only watches one channel misreads both.

In-store and on-shelf

Auditors record availability, price labels, facings and promotional material with a timestamped photo. Where a brand sells through modern trade and kiranas, we audit both in the same wave so gaps are comparable.

At the doorstep

Short interviews with customers shortly after an order arrives, with their consent: packaging condition, delivery timing, the courier's conduct, and whether the product matched the listing. Returners get a separate set of questions.

What we believe about retail data

Satisfaction

Most dissatisfaction in online retail comes from handoffs between teams: seller to warehouse, warehouse to courier, courier to customer, customer to refunds. We design satisfaction surveys around those handoffs so each score has an owner inside your business.

Consumer rules worth keeping in view

The Central Consumer Protection Authority's 2023 guidelines on dark patterns cover practices such as false urgency, basket sneaking and drip pricing. When a study asks shoppers how a checkout felt, we keep questions neutral and can include items that help your compliance team spot confusing flows. We report what shoppers told us; we do not give legal opinions.

Handoffs we measure

  • Listing to expectation
  • Order to dispatch
  • Courier conduct
  • Return pickup
  • Refund credited

FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

Can you audit both kirana stores and modern trade outlets?

Yes. We use one audit form with store-type logic, so a kirana and a supermarket are checked on comparable items. Each visit carries GPS, time and shelf photos. Outlet lists can come from you, or we build them through a retail census if none exists.

How do you reach online shoppers for doorstep interviews?

Usually from order lists you share with consent to contact, split by city and order type. Interviewers visit or call within a short window after delivery while the experience is fresh. Customers can decline, and we never ask for order IDs beyond what you already provided.

Do you run quick-commerce research?

We run primary research on quick-commerce habits: who orders, what they order, what they still buy locally, and what makes them switch apps. We do not have access to platform data, so findings come from interviews and observed behaviour.

What does a retail study cost?

Pricing is on quotation. Store count, town spread, photo requirements, questionnaire length and turnaround drive the cost. Send the outlet or city list and we return a line-item estimate.
