Use our app with your own team, hire our field teams, or combine both

Bharat Survey is a survey agency for NGOs and social enterprises that need credible data without a research department's budget. Some organisations only need software: an offline, Hindi-first app for their field staff. Others need independent fieldwork because a funder or CSR partner wants evidence the implementing team did not collect. Most end up using both, with one dataset and one set of checks.

  • Offline Android app for your staff and volunteers
  • Independent baseline, midline and endline rounds
  • Beneficiary feedback for social enterprises
  • Reports formatted for donors and CSR committees

Who we work with

Grassroots NGOs

Replace paper registers with forms field staff can fill offline, and stop waiting weeks for someone to type data into Excel before a donor report.

CSR implementing partners

Produce baseline and endline evidence that a company's CSR committee and impact assessor can review line by line.

Social enterprises

Hear from customers and producers regularly: product use, affordability, repeat purchase and income change, without a costly one-off study each year.
Three ways to work with us

Pick the layer that matches your capacity. You can move between them as the programme grows.

Survey app for NGOs and Social Enterprises

Your staff collect data on Android phones using forms you build or we set up. Records carry GPS and time, work without network, and show on a web dashboard once synced.

  • Seat-based pricing on quotation
  • Hindi-first interface with English toggle
  • Role-based access for staff and volunteers

When a funder needs evidence from outside your team, our enumerators run the baseline or endline to an agreed design, and you receive data, tools and a methods note.

  • Sampling note before fieldwork
  • Back-checks on a share of interviews

03Your monitoring, our verificationHybrid

Your monitoring, our verification

Your staff run routine monitoring on the app, and our team back-checks a sample of those records or runs the evaluation rounds, all in one system.

  • One dataset across both teams
  • Independent back-check sample
  • Lower cost than full outsourcing

Our view

Decide the model

Choosing between software, fieldwork and a hybrid model.
SituationBest modelWhy
Routine monitoring by field staffSoftware onlyYour team already visits beneficiaries

Funders and CSR

Under the Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, companies above specified CSR spending thresholds must get impact assessments done for larger projects through independent agencies. Implementing NGOs are often asked for the underlying data. Keeping baselines, monitoring and endlines in one verified system makes that request easy to meet.

What donors usually ask for

Indicator tables against the logframe, sample sizes and how they were chosen, evidence that data was collected where claimed, and a short note on limitations. We format outputs that way from the start, so reporting week is not a scramble.

Handover pack

  • Indicator table
  • Methods and sampling note
  • Clean dataset and codebook
  • Consented photos where relevant
  • Limitations note

Not the right fit if

  • Writing grant proposals or fundraising
  • Donor CRM or accounting software
  • FCRA compliance advice
  • Guaranteeing that a study will show positive impact

A good fit if

  • Offline data collection for field staff
  • Independent baselines and endlines
  • Back-checks on your own monitoring data
  • Donor and CSR-ready evidence packs
FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

Can volunteers with basic phones use the app?

The app needs an Android smartphone, and runs on low-cost devices. Forms are in Hindi by default with an English toggle, and most volunteers are comfortable after a short practice session. It does not run on feature phones or iPhones.

How is pricing set for NGOs?

Software is seat-based and fieldwork is quoted per study, both on quotation. We scope to your budget by adjusting sample size, geography or the share of back-checks, and we explain what each change does to the reliability of results.

Can your team assess a CSR project we implemented?

We can run independent fieldwork for it, but if the CSR rules require an independent impact assessment, the company should appoint the assessor. If we are already your monitoring vendor, disclose that to the company so it can judge independence.

Who owns the data we collect on your app?

Your organisation does. We process it on your instructions, do not use it for other purposes, and delete it on request subject to backup cycles. The data security page explains hosting and access in detail.
