A small state measured in altitude, not kilometres

Bharat Survey is a survey company in Sikkim for departments, NGOs, tourism and consumer brands, and campaign teams that need verified data from all six districts. We write questionnaires in Nepali and English with Bhutia and Lepcha prompts where needed, plan fieldwork around landslide and snow seasons, and use an offline app that GPS-stamps every interview from Gangtok's wards to villages in Mangan.

Where Sikkim sits

Sikkim borders Nepal, Bhutan and China, and tourism, horticulture and pharmaceutical units all matter to its economy. Consumer studies here need two samples: residents, and the visitors who fill Gangtok's hotels in peak seasons.

We audit outlets and homestays with photos and GPS, and interview residents in Nepali or English. Visitor surveys are scheduled in spring and autumn seasons so results are not read from off-season crowds.

  • Resident and visitor samples kept apart
  • Outlet and homestay audits
  • Season-aware scheduling

Electoral research

Sikkim's constituencies have small electorates, so every interview carries weight.

We spread samples across every polling station area in a seat and cap the share from roadside settlements. The Sangha seat, whose electors are registered monks of Sikkim's monasteries, is designed separately with appropriate permissions and never pooled with general seats. Questions are neutral and never lead toward a party.

The assembly was elected in 2024; the next general cycle is years away, which suits tracking panels.

Calendar and booths

An assembly election survey agency Sikkim campaigns hire between cycles can build a panel that shows movement, not a single snapshot. The booth management app Sikkim volunteers use stores tasks offline in North Sikkim valleys and syncs with GPS and time. It holds no voter-list personal data.

Survey company in Gangtok

Gangtok, headquarters of Gangtok district, is governed by the Gangtok Municipal Corporation and spreads down a ridge from MG Marg. As a survey agency in Gangtok we plan wards by stairway and road access. Campaigns brief us as a political survey company in Gangtok or an election survey agency in Gangtok, and tourism and retail brands use the same team as a market research company in Gangtok. Departments hire a data collection agency in Gangtok that works as a door to door survey agency in Gangtok.

Booth management app Gangtok volunteers log GPS-stamped visits and sync on the city network.

Our view on Sikkim fieldwork

Public sector

01

Scope by district

Six districts set as strata, with Mangan and Soreng travel shown in the plan.
02

Tools in Nepali and English

Back-translated and piloted outside the sample.
03

Offline fieldwork

GPS, time and duration on each record; supervisors re-visit a share.
04

District-wise report

Findings with sample sizes beside every figure.
Evaluation

Organic farming programmes

Sikkim was declared a fully organic state in January 2016; evaluations of farm support need farm-level verification, not only certificates.

Housing and welfare schemes

Asset checks with consent-first photos and GPS, independent of the implementing office.
CSR

Programmes near industrial units

Health and skilling projects around pharmaceutical and hydropower sites measured against comparison villages.

Cardamom and horticulture

Large-cardamom and orange growers sampled by village cluster, split by district.
Field operations

Collected offline above the clouds

We recruit and train Nepali-speaking enumerators for the project. Forms stay on the phone in valleys without network and sync later with GPS, time and duration for review.

NGOs

NGOs on mental health, substance use or elder care in Sikkim need private interviews and careful consent. We read consent in Nepali or English, keep sensitive modules photo-free, and show only district aggregates on dashboards.

Not the right fit if

  • You need North Sikkim fieldwork in heavy snow or peak landslide weeks
  • You want voter-list personal data in the app
  • You want a claimed local office

A good fit if

  • Six-district samples with honest travel plans
  • Resident and visitor studies
  • Records auditable by GPS and time
FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

Which languages are used for surveys in Sikkim?

Nepali is the most widely understood language, with English common in Gangtok. Sikkim recognises several official languages, including Bhutia and Lepcha, so for villages in North Sikkim and Lepcha areas we add reviewed prompts in those languages and pilot every version before fieldwork.

When is the best time for fieldwork in Sikkim?

Spring and autumn usually give the most reliable road access. Monsoon rain from about June to September causes landslides, and winter snow limits high-altitude areas of Mangan district. We schedule remote strata accordingly and report any substitutions openly.

How is the Sangha seat handled in election research?

The Sangha constituency has an electorate of registered monks attached to Sikkim's monasteries. We treat it as a separate design with respectful, permission-based access and never merge its results with the 31 general seats.

Do you have a team in Gangtok?

We do not claim a local office. Field teams are deployed per project: we recruit and train enumerators for the study and supervise through GPS, timestamps and back-checks in the app.
