Electoral research

Assembly seats here have small electorates spread across scattered villages, so a handful of misplaced interviews can swing an estimate.

We design polling-station samples inside each constituency and set minimum interviews per circle, so a seat estimate is not built from the one village next to the road. Questions are neutral and never name a preferred outcome, and results are reported with the sample size beside every figure.

Assembly and parliamentary cycles

The 60-member assembly was elected in 2024 together with the two Lok Sabha seats, Arunachal West and Arunachal East. Do enumerators need an Inner Line Permit in Arunachal Pradesh?

Visitors from outside the state need an Inner Line Permit. We prefer enumerators already resident in the state, and where outside supervisors travel we add permit processing time to the schedule. The requirement is set by the state government, so we check current rules at inception.

Which languages are used in questionnaires?

English and Hindi form the base, since Hindi works as the link language across tribes. For village interviews we add prompts reviewed by speakers of the relevant language, such as Adi around Pasighat or Nyishi in the central districts, and pilot them before fieldwork.

How long does a state-wide survey take?

Longer than in plains states of similar population, because travel dominates. After tools are approved, a district-stratified study usually needs several weeks of fieldwork, and more in the monsoon. We share a district-wise travel plan with the proposal instead of a single headline date.

Can the app work in circles with no mobile network?

Yes. The Android app stores forms, photos and GPS offline for days and syncs later without changing timestamps. Supervisors then review records by location and duration before they are accepted into the dataset.
