A constituency is won or lost one polling station at a time

Bharat Survey is a booth level survey agency for candidates, campaign managers and political consultancies who need more than a single seat-wide number. We sample voters in the area of each polling station you choose, interview them at the doorstep with GPS-verified field teams, and turn the answers into booth-wise readings on issues, awareness and mood that a booth committee can act on. Surveys are anonymous, neutral in wording and never built on voter-roll profiles.

Why booth level

An assembly constituency usually has a few hundred polling stations. A seat-wide survey of 1,500 people can tell you the overall mood, but it cannot tell you that water supply dominates twenty booths along one canal while jobs dominate the town wards. Booth level analysis groups interviews by polling station area so that differences between neighbourhoods become visible and usable.

Comprehensive research at booth level, within honest limits

A handful of interviews per booth cannot give a precise vote estimate for that booth, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it gives is a reliable ranking of issues, a read of awareness of local work, and a flag on booths that differ sharply from the constituency pattern. Where you need firmer booth numbers, we raise samples for a smaller set of priority booths instead of thinly covering all of them.

Typical booth study

  • Priority booths agreed with you
  • Short questionnaire, under 12 minutes
  • Quotas by gender and age
  • Two rounds before polling
  • Booth cards for committees

    Choose booths and set samples

We map polling stations to villages and wards using public ECI lists and your priorities, then set a sample per booth or booth cluster.

Geography

Profiling starts before fieldwork. Polling station lists, locality names and Census village data describe the booth areas: rural or urban, size, and the villages or wards each covers. Fieldwork then adds what public data cannot: issues, awareness and mood.

What we do not include

We do not import electoral rolls, attach survey answers to named voters, or build caste or religion scores for individuals. Social composition, where a client needs it for planning, is reported only at aggregate level from consented, anonymous answers, and within the law.

Not the right fit if

  • You want a vote share forecast for every booth
  • You want individual voter lists tagged by preference
  • Polling is less than a week away
  • You want published results during the ECI silence period

A good fit if

  • You need booth-wise issue priorities
  • Your committees want a clear agenda
  • You plan two or more rounds
  • You want verified fieldwork, not phone guesses
FAQ

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.

How many interviews do you need per booth?

It depends on what you want from each booth. For issue ranking, a modest sample per booth or per cluster of similar booths is enough. For firmer booth estimates you need far more, so we usually concentrate larger samples on priority booths. The proposal shows the sample per booth and what it can support.

Do you use the voter list to find respondents?

No. Version 1 of our platform does not import electoral rolls. Enumerators sample households within the booth area using a random walk or listing method, and interviews are anonymous. Polling station lists are used only to understand the geography of each booth.

Can our party workers do the interviews?

They can, using the offline app on seats you buy, and GPS checks will verify location. Worker-run interviews tend to bias answers toward the party, so for an honest reading we recommend independent enumerators or at least independent back-checks.

Is booth level research legal during elections?

Private surveys for internal campaign use are legal. Restrictions apply to publishing: Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act bars exit poll publication during the notified period, and Section 126 bars displaying opinion poll results in the 48 hours before polling ends.
