Where the work happens
The district runs from the Tamil Nadu border near Parassala to Varkala in the north, with a long coastline and hill areas towards the Western Ghats in Nedumangad and Kattakkada taluks.
Coastal fishing wards, dense city wards and hill panchayats each need different visit timings, so we plan clusters by terrain rather than only by ward number.

Which Lok Sabha seats cover Thiruvananthapuram district?
Two: Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal. The district's 14 assembly segments are split between them, so we confirm which segments belong to which seat from CEO Kerala data before setting a parliamentary sample.
Are corporation surveys based on the new ward map?
Yes. The 2025 delimitation raised Thiruvananthapuram Corporation to 101 wards and changed several boundaries. We use the notified ward list from the State Election Commission so old ward numbers do not distort the sample.
How does high literacy change the survey?
With district literacy at 92.66% in Census 2011, many respondents can read show cards or complete sensitive sections themselves on the tablet. That reduces interviewer influence, though we still offer read-aloud for anyone who prefers it.
Do you avoid fieldwork during Attukal Pongala?
We plan around it. Pongala draws very large crowds to parts of the city, so we avoid household visits in affected wards on those days and reschedule rather than accept poor contact rates.
Is there a Bharat Survey office in Thiruvananthapuram?
