Greater Chennai Corporation runs 200 wards across 15 zones; most fall in Chennai North, Central and South, but some wards vote in Thiruvallur and Sriperumbudur. A Chennai sample that stops at the three city seats misses the GCC wards that vote in Thiruvallur and Sriperumbudur, and a sample built on the corporation boundary cuts through those two seats. We tag each interview with ward, zone, assembly segment and Lok Sabha seat so results can be cut either way without re-fielding.

How many wards and zones does Greater Chennai Corporation have?
200 wards grouped into 15 zones, as published by the Chennai district administration and GCC. We use the ward as the base sampling unit and report by zone when clients need an administrative view.
Which Lok Sabha seats cover Chennai?
Most GCC wards fall in Chennai North, Chennai Central and Chennai South, each with six assembly segments. Some wards within GCC limits fall under Thiruvallur and Sriperumbudur, so we confirm every ward's seat before sampling.
Are Chennai interviews in Tamil?
Yes. Questionnaires and consent scripts are written and piloted in Tamil, with English versions for respondents who ask. The app stores the language used with each record.
Does the monsoon change survey plans?
It can. Late-year rains may flood low-lying streets and change what residents say about civic services. We add buffer days, date every interview and, for civic studies, recommend stating whether fieldwork happened before or after heavy rain.
